About TopRatedVPN
An independent VPN research site. We check prices, renewal rates, refund windows and device limits at each provider's own checkout every month, publish the scoring weights, and rank by score.
Who runs the site
Amelia Ame, Founder & editor. Reads the checkouts, the audit reports and the terms nobody else opens, and publishes what each VPN actually charges once the introductory price runs out. Her profile page has what she will and will not do, and everything she has written here.
Editorial rules
- Every VPN is scored on the same five published criteria and the same weights. See how we test.
- Rank order is the score order. Nothing else moves a VPN up or down.
- Providers get no preview of the prices, scores or rankings we publish and cannot request edits.
- Negative findings stay in — a disclosed breach, a court order the provider complied with, or an audit that lapsed — reported on the review, dated.
- Every page shows when the prices behind it were last checked and when they are checked again.
- We never link to cracked, modded or pirated VPN apps, and we say plainly when a free VPN is unsafe.
How the site makes money
Affiliate commissions from some of the VPNs we review, paid when you buy through a link here. They do not influence ratings — the disclosure page explains exactly how the links work.
