PureVPN carries a published score of 8.1 built from its audit, jurisdiction, features and price, with no first-party speed or streaming test behind it; IceVPN is provisionally scored 4.8 with the same caveat. The real gap is evidence: PureVPN has an always-on KPMG audit; IceVPN has none, and the one reviewer who looked closely (Cloudwards, Jul 2026) called its privacy policy “highly concerning.” Cloudwards also measured IceVPN's speed directly — a full 55 Mbps on a nearby server, dropping to 18.4 Mbps and swinging more than 30 Mbps run to run on distant ones — and State of Surveillance found it failed Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ while reaching BBC iPlayer, Max and Prime Video. PureVPN is also cheaper on the long plan ($2.15 against IceVPN's $2.99 yearly rate) and has port forwarding IceVPN lacks. IceVPN's answers are a $249 lifetime plan and a 20 GB free tier that PureVPN doesn't offer.

PureVPN, on the evidence available. It carries an always-on KPMG audit and port forwarding IceVPN doesn't have. IceVPN has no audit at all, and the one close reading of its privacy policy (Cloudwards) called it concerning. Neither has been through our own testing; IceVPN's advantages are the lifetime plan and the free tier.
Does IceVPN use PureVPN's servers?
Not directly, but the two are connected. IceVPN has said it runs on Atom by Secure, a white-label VPN backend; Reddit users traced Atom and Secure to Gaditek, whose founders also founded PureVPN. That is community research rather than a confirmed corporate link. What it does establish is that IceVPN's servers are rented rather than its own, which is one reason its privacy score is provisional and low.
