IceVPNCheap lifetime plan

A cheap VPN from the Icedrive people, bought mostly for its lifetime deal. Quick on a nearby server by the one hands-on test published, poor at distance, and still missing apps and features it advertises.

The verdict, scores and trade-offs

The bottom line

IceVPN is the VPN from the Icedrive cloud-storage people, and almost everyone who buys it buys the $249 lifetime plan. The one full hands-on test published — Cloudwards, July 2026 — found it lost nothing at all on a nearby server and then fell to 18 Mbps reaching Singapore, with swings of 30 Mbps between runs. Around that: no independent audit, a privacy policy that reviewer called highly concerning, rented white-label servers, a kill switch and split tunnelling that exist only on Windows, an Android app untouched since October 2025, and an iOS app the site advertises that we could not find in the App Store. Cloudwards would not recommend it. We have not tested it ourselves, so its provisional 5.7 keeps it out of our ranking — and the honest summary is that it is a defensible bet on a cheap lifetime plan for everyday browsing on Windows, and the wrong buy for streaming, for a Mac, for an iPhone, or for anything where privacy has to be more than a promise.

  • Best for lifetime plans
  • Best for a generous free tier
  • Best for Icedrive users

IceVPN: provisional scores

These are built from other people's hands-on tests and user reports, not from our rig, and they are replaced the day we test it ourselves. The weights are the ones every tested VPN gets.

Overall score = weighted average. Weights are fixed for the year and identical for every VPN. Methodology

What we liked

  • $249 lifetime plan and a $2.99/month yearly rate
  • 20 GB free tier — the largest free allowance of any VPN we list
  • No measurable speed loss on a nearby server in the one published hands-on test
  • Passed DNS and IPv6 leak tests; clean IPs that banking sites accept

What we didn't

  • No independent audit, and a privacy policy Cloudwards calls highly concerning
  • Kill switch and split tunnelling are Windows-only — macOS has neither
  • Servers are rented white-label capacity (Atom by Secure), not its own
  • Android app untouched since Oct 2025; no iOS app we could find despite the site listing one
