Best Lifetime VPN Subscriptions in 2026 (and Why Most Are a Trap)
A lifetime VPN subscription sounds like the ultimate bargain: pay once, protected forever. The maths says otherwise. Servers, bandwidth and audits cost money every month; a provider with no recurring income either throttles you, sells your data, or closes. Several that sold lifetime deals through discount sites have done exactly that.
None of the top rated VPNs sell lifetime plans, and we don't recommend any that do. What you can get is a five-year plan from PureVPN or a three-year plan from PIA — audited providers, at prices close to the lifetime offers, with a refund window. The one current lifetime deal we have looked at closely, IceVPN's $249 plan, is written up in our research review; it is not on this list because we have not tested it and because it has no audit.

How we picked
No VPN selling lifetime subscriptions met our privacy or speed bar, so this page lists the longest plans from audited VPNs, ranked by total cost per month over the plan length.
All scores come from the same monthly tests on the same rig — how we test. Rank order on this page is by the category criteria, not by commission.
Questions
Is a lifetime VPN worth it?
Almost never. The provider has no income to keep running servers for you, so lifetime plans tend to end in throttling, data selling or the company closing. A 3- or 5-year plan from an audited VPN costs about the same and comes with a refund.
Which VPNs offer lifetime subscriptions?
Mainly small providers sold through discount marketplaces, plus IceVPN, the Icedrive company's VPN, which sells a $249 lifetime plan directly. None of the top ten VPNs we rate offers one, and we do not recommend the ones that do; IceVPN has a research review here but no test yet, and no audit.
What is the longest VPN plan from a reputable provider?
PureVPN runs 5-year promotions and PIA has a 3-year plan. NordVPN and Surfshark top out at 2 years.
What happens if a lifetime VPN shuts down?
Your money is gone and, if the provider logged, so may be your privacy. Several lifetime-deal VPNs have closed or been acquired and repurposed since 2020.
