Best VPN for Netflix in 2026
Netflix runs the most aggressive VPN blocking of any streaming service, so a result that was true last month can be false this month. We have not run our own region-by-region test; this list is ordered by published streaming features, server count in each Netflix region, and refund length so you can verify it yourself.
NordVPN has the widest server footprint across Netflix regions, including Japan, where availability is usually the differentiator. If you only need Netflix US, most of the top five claim to handle it — the refund window is how you confirm it.

How we picked
Ranked on published Netflix-specific features (region-labelled servers, smart DNS), server count in relevant regions, and refund length. We have not tested unblocks ourselves; see /how-we-test/ for the published rubric.
All scores come from the same published rubric, checked monthly — how we test. Rank order on this page is by the category criteria, not by commission.
Questions
Which VPN works with Netflix?
We have not tested this ourselves. NordVPN, Surfshark and ExpressVPN all advertise Netflix support across multiple regions and are the ones with the server footprint to back the claim; free VPNs generally don't attempt Netflix at all. Verify with the specific region you need inside a refund window.
Why does Netflix say 'you seem to be using a VPN or proxy'?
Netflix has flagged the server's IP address. Switch to another server in the same country, clear the app's cache, or use the VPN's smart DNS feature. Our guide walks through the fix.
Can Netflix ban me for using a VPN?
Netflix blocks the connection rather than the account, as far as is publicly known. It does breach Netflix's terms, so it's your call.
Which is the best free VPN for Netflix?
None reliably. Proton VPN's free plan doesn't attempt streaming by design, and no other free VPN we'd recommend claims to unblock Netflix. Use a paid VPN's refund window instead — NordVPN and Surfshark both offer 30 days.
